Kansas City Wizards Acquire International Roster Spot from D.C. United
LEAWOOD, KS - February 3, 2010 - The Kansas City Wizards announced Wednesday that the team has acquired an international roster spot from D.C. United in exchange for forward Adam Cristman. Kansas City will control the roster spot until Dec. 31, 2011. The Wizards play D.C. United in the season opener Saturday, March 27 at 7:30 p.m. CT at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
Cristman leaves Kansas City after one year with the Wizards, where the forward’s playing time was limited due to injury. The Wizards acquired Cristman from the New England Revolution prior to the 2009 season, but the Virginia native suffered a broken foot before the opening game. That, in addition to a hamstring injury suffered mid-season, meant Cristman’s Kansas City debut did not come until July 25th, 2009, almost four months into the season. In total, Cristman appeared in five games (three starts) for Kansas City.
With Cristman’s departure, the Wizards now have seven forwards in preseason training camp in Phoenix, Arizona: Davy Arnaud, Kyle Brown, Teal Bunbury, Kei Kamara, Michael Kraus, Josh Wolff, and Zoltan. The team will play its first pre-season game on Saturday against the NPSL’s Arizona Sahuaros, preceding a slate of matches against other Major League Soccer sides.
