Fox Soccer Channel Scores Highest Rated Telecast in Network History

LOS ANGELES– Fox Soccer Channel scored its highest-rated telecast since becoming a Nielsen rated network in October 2008 with the Sunday, July 26 CONCACAF Gold Cup™ Final between the United States and Mexico.  

Drawing its largest audience ever, the 3:00 p.m. ET telecast of the showdown between two regional rivals averaged a 0.8 household coverage rating, equating to 267,000 homes nationwide.  The match also brought in a record-breaking 0.8 in the male 18-49 demographic, 0.8 in M18-34 and 0.7 for M25-54. The live telecast from Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., bested top sports and male-oriented cable channels in the same time slot including ESPN2, NFL Network, Spike TV and ESPN News.

Key sponsors of Fox Soccer Channel’s Gold Cup™ Final telecast included Verizon Wireless, Honda, Geico, Guinness, Who Are Ya Designs, Soccer.com and WorldSoccerShop.com. 

Previously, the network has earned strong ratings for numerous other matches, including Barclays Premier League telecasts of Liverpool vs. Chelsea on Feb. 1, 2009 with a 0.5 HH rating and a Manchester United vs. Chelsea showdown on Jan. 11, 2009 which earned a 0.4 HH rating.
