The Northampton branch of the Royal British Legion were joined by the Cobblers to officially launch this year's Poppy Appeal on Friday.

The official Northamptonshire launch took place at the Walter Tull memorial at Sixfields. The Poppy Appeal raises funds for The Royal British Legion, the nation's leading Armed Forces charity providing care and support to all members of the armed forces.

"We were delighted to assist with the launch," said Chairman David Cardoza.

"With Walter Tull being the most well known, there is a strong link with the club and the armed forces and we are pleased to support this year's Poppy Appeal."

"We would urge the whole of Northamptonshire to support this year's Poppy Appeal and to wear their poppy with pride."
