Eastbourne Borough face their second longest journey of this season's 7,820 mile Blue Square Premier League away day marathon with the 715 mile round trip to Gateshead (Saturday October 10. kick off 15.00). Barrow is even further for the Sussex side, but only five miles more, with a 720 mile trek to Cumbria and back.

Borough will leave for their first ever encounter with Gateshead on Friday morning, staying overnight in the North East.

Gateshead finished runners up in the Blue Square North last season with 80 points - five behind champions Tamworth - and gained promotion via the play-offs. Currently with nine points from 14 matches the Heed, who play at the Gateshead
International Stadium famous for hosting athletics meetings, are in one of the four relegation places in 21st position.

At home they have picked up five points with one win (Salisbury 2-1) and two draws (1-1 against Tamworth and Rushden and Diamonds). Gateshead have lost on the banks of the Tyne by the odd goal to York City (2-1) and Oxford (1-0). Histon
triumphed 3-0 on the opening day of the season. On the road Gateshead won 4-1 at Crawley and got a 0-0 at Grays.

This Friday (October 9) Gateshead are bidding to get a charge of failing to fulfil a fixture overturned when they appear before the Conference Board in Birmingham. The BSP game against Hayes and Yeading at the International Stadium was abandoned after a 40 minute delay - play was halted, with the score 0-0 on 74 minutes, following a double leg break suffered by Gateshead midfielder Martin Brittain.
