Gary Waddock of Aldershot Town FC has announced that new signing Adam Hinshelwood will be his captain for the 2009/10 season. Speaking on Thursday the boss also confirmed that fellow newcomer John Halls will be the vice captain.
The boss said, "Both players have arrived at the club during the summer and have shown an awareness to work and are excellent professionals. Adam has been the captain at his previous club whilst John also has experience at playing at a higher level and he was also at Brentford last season as they won the league. I have had a look at the situation over the past few weeks and there were a few contenders to be honest but we have made the decision and are looking forward to the start to the campaign."
Hinshelwood is a central defender who began his career as a schoolboy at Norwich City. He made his senior football debut for Brighton and Hove Albion, where he was a scholar, against Burnley in August 2002.
During his time at the Sussex club, where he made over 100 first team appearances, he was called into the England Under 21 squad and, in season 2006/07, he became one of the youngest captain's in the Seagulls history. He signed a one year deal last month.
Halls, 27, is a right-sided defender/midfielder, who began his career as a scholar at Arsenal. He gained first team experience at the north London club before joining Stoke City in 2003. He was part of Reading's promotion winning squad to the Premier League in 2006 before injury curtailed his progress. He has also had loan spells at Preston North End, Sheffield United and Crystal Palace whilst last season he was part of the successful championship winning Brentford squad. He signed a two year deal last month.

Northampton Town have rejected a written transfer request from Danny Jackman.
The club's current Player of the Year submitted his request to Chairman David Cardoza on Tuesday, but after talking with manager Stuart Gray, the Chairman was quick to turn that request down.
"Danny has asked to leave in writing but we have said no," said the Cobblers Chairman. "He is contracted to us until the end of the season and I have repeatedly turned a number of offers down for Danny.
"Danny is a true professional and while we understand his wish to play at a higher level, we hope he can begin to achieve that aim by helping us to promotion this season. He is a first class player with a first class attitude and I hope that on Saturday the Cobblers supporters show just how pleased we are to have him at the club and give him a great reception against Macclesfield."
Our Take: Northampton Town made a bold move regarding the Danny Jackman situation. They must truly beleive that he is a franchise player; he is not a player they can do without. Aldershot Town's Gary Waddock clearly made a statement when he gave the duties of captain and vice-captain to newcomers.
