Mansfield Town FC announced that approximately 100 parking spaces have been made available for use on a home matchday at the Dairy Crest depot, situated just 250 yards away from Field Mill.
The news will no doubt be welcomed by the Mansfield Town supporters who learned that the ground's parking capacity had been cut by 60% due to unforseen problems.
The Dairy Crest is located on Quarry Lane (postcode NG18 5DB) and is only a stone's throw away from the ground.
The cost per car is £5 for full supervised and secure parking.
Half of the proceeds generated will be donated to the Daily Crest's annual charity, McMillan Nurses.
Chairman Andrew Perry told www.mansfieldtown.net: "This may alleviate some of the parking problems at the ground.
"We will enter a trial period and see how it goes but we are anticipating that it will be successful. By giving half of the monies generated to McMillan Nurses it shows that we, along with Dairy Crest, are giving something back to the community," he added.
Mansfield Town also managed to reduce prices in their food kiosks by 20 pence ahead of the big kick off on Saturday when they face Crawley Town. Prices inside the kiosks will now cost the same as in the 2007/08 season (excluding confectionary items).
The club have successfully negotiated the new pricing structure with Lindley Catering who manage the kiosks on a home matchday. Chairman Andrew Perry told the club’s website www.mansfieldtown.net: "Lindley Catering have been pro-active in their last contracted year with us and have tried to give us what we want.
"I was unhappy by the previous pricing structure and we stressed to them that prices must not go up and instead they should come down. Hopefully our fans will recognize that we have been pro-active with our outside caterers," he added.
The most important announcement is that of a new promotion. The club is offering a lucky supporter the chance to travel away with the first team in one away match this season.
By donating £10 for the opportunity to take part in this once-in-a-lifetime experience, one lucky fan will experience the full away day experience with the players and management, which will include a pre-match meal and transport from Field Mill.
There are two away games to pick from: Barrow on Tuesday 29th September and Gateshead on Tuesday 1st December.
The lucky winner will also be able to see the game through the eyes of the media and will be sitting alongside the club’s Head of Media & Communications Mark Stevenson in the visiting press box.
In each of the two competitions, the club are looking for the first 50 supporters to pledge £10 each, which will cover the cost of the players’ long trips to the above clubs. To enter please go to the Stags Club Shop.
Tamworth FC announced that Trevor Benjamin has signed with the club prior to their opening match.
Benjamin has a wealth of experience behind him, having started professionally with Cambridge United in 1995 before signing for Leicester City for over £1m in 2000. He left The Foxes in 2005 and featured for a number of clubs including Peterborough and Hereford United before moving into the non-league game in 2008. Trevor has also represented England U21s and Jamaica at the international level.
Along with ex West Bromwwich Albion youngsters Seb Lake-Gaskin and Anthony Bruce, Gary Mills has added exciting raw young talent and coupled it with experience to his self-confessed small squad.
Our Take: We are particularly impressed with Tamworth's signing of Anthony Bruce. The central midfielder is young, but has experience at the international level with the Republic of Ireland's U16, U17 and U18 squads.
