Rushden & Diamonds striker Sam Smith has today been loaned out to Hinckley United for one month, in order to gain more first team football.
Hinckley United play in the Blue Square North, where they currently lie in 5th place, they are managed by Dean Thomas and played against Rushden & Diamonds earlier on in the season, in the FA Cup First Round Proper, with the Diamonds winning 3-1.
Sam will be allowed to play in the FA Trophy for Hinckley, starting with the visit of York City in the first round on Saturday.
Justin Edinburgh commented “Sam went to Corby earlier in the season, but didn’t get as much football as he, or we, would have liked for whatever reasons. Hinckley have got eight games in the period of the month’s loan, so it gives Sam a great opportunity to get up to speed. Its important he goes there, plays some competitive games, then comes back and he’ll be ready to kick on then and make a statement here. Hinckley have had a good run since we beat them, we know what they are about, they’re a decent side, they played well against us, so it’s a good team to go out to and a good move for Sam.”
