Behind the Stars is a regular column devoted to the Cleveland City Stars of the United Soccer Leagues (USL). The City Stars entered the USL's Second Division in 2007 as an expansion team. The club experienced success quickly, winning the USL-2 Championship in 2008. This important victory earned them promotion into the First Division for the 2009 season.
